Anthony Mascolo
Founder and International Artistic Director

Anthony Mascolo a hairdressing icon and creative extraordinaire. Founder of TIGI and cult brand Bed Head. Internationally renowned for his exquisite couture hair, his exciting photography and his creative films. His critically acclaimed work has won him many accolades including winning British Hairdresser of the Year three timesand he is now the respected President of Alternative Hair. Anthony is always passionate about the hairdresser, recognising the world in which we live, and the desire to push the creative boundaries, to take the industry forward. As a result he founded TIGI with a strictly 'by hairdressers, for hairdressers' ethos, recruiting a world class creative team, eager to share knowledge with others and recognise the creative intelligence required for hairdressing. Today, Anthony continues as the international Artistic Director for TIGI, and continues to drive his vision forward. It's about the work behind the work, not just the work itself. It's about progression. Keeping the art of hairdressing fresh. Dynamic. Alive. It's about recognition of the craft, artistry and dedication that we put into hairdressing.
Nick Irwin
Global Creative Director

As leader of the TIGI International Creative Team Nick Irwin is responsible for many creative aspects from trend predictions to product development as well as heading up fashion shows and working on all global TIGI shows. Working closely with Anthony Mascolo, Nick helps develop new collections and imagery for brand marketing. His influences are seen in regular "up close and personal" days where he shares the latest cuts, styling ideas, catwalk looks and couture hair ideas. Communication and inspiration are at the heart of his work.
Christel Lundqvist
Global Technical Director

Christel Lundqvist developed an early passion for colour in her native Sweden before moving to London in 1999 with a desire to work for the very best in hairdressing. The winner of the 2008, 2010 & 2011/12 British Hairdressing Awards Professional British Colour Technician of the Year. Christel's consultative approach, clear creative vision and likeability make her an exceptional leader for the TIGI Technical Creative Team. Expressing mood, image and style through colour, Christel takes inspiration directly from fashion and art to produce visually stunning colour work. Her technical approach and ability has led to her receiving acclamation from the hairdressing industry as well as the opportunity of working on numerous high profile projects across the globe.
Akos Bodi
European Creative Director

Akos Bodi is known for his calm, focused approach, best seen backstage during shows, when his calming influence shines through. Bodi has worked for TIGI for 15 years, 5 years as European Educational Director and before as a salon and education director in Dallas. He describes his role as: ‘Translating TIGI’s creative ideas for the ‘everyday’ hairdresser’. He embraces constant new challenges and believes in staying ahead of the game with an ability to break rules with the utmost confidence.
Maria Kovacs
European Session Director

For Maria hairdressing isn’t a job, it’s a lifestyle, a method of self-expression and an outlet for creativity. 5 years ago Maria left her native Australia to join the London-based team. As European Session Director for the past two years, she has worked on the global fashion week circuit and on TIGI Catwalk Collective projects. Maria shares this amazing information via shows, seminars, and "step-by-steps" and translates her hair and styling ideas into imagery.
Heath Grout
US Creative Director

Heath Grout has worked for the Company for 17 years. He is primarily based at the TIGI Advanced Hairdressing Academy in NYC where he helps develop ideas for new collections. He regularly visits other TIGI bases in Europe and participates in shows and seminars across the globe. For 5 years Heath worked closely with Anthony Mascolo at Bed Head Studios in London where he developed the photographic style he now uses in New York. His strong technical knowledge and forward thinking, as well as his intuition with new and future trends make Heath a popular educator.
Richy Kandasamy
US Technical Creative Director

Richy Kandasamy’s international background has provided him the foundation for his distinctive and imaginative use of colour. His acquired a disciplined mastery of colour technique whilst working in Florence, where his career flourished over eight years to become Technical Director at the TIGI Academy Italy. From 2008-2010 Richy worked in London where he implemented colour courses and played an important role in the successful development and implementation of TIGI Colour throughout Europe. He also worked closely with Anthony Mascolo on photo shots and shows. Now based in New York, as American Technical Director, Richy continues to push the boundaries of color technique and creativity. “For me inspiration is everywhere — whether it’s urban or exotic, street or haute couture, it’s how you interpret and process all those influences that turns it into art.”
Thomas Osborn
US Education Director

Since he began with the company 23 years ago, Thomas Osborn has risen through the ranks to become one of the most esteemed educators in the hairdressing industry. Mentored by Anthony Mascolo he was driven by his passion for education to become part of the TIGI global creative team and has dedicated the majority of his career to sharing knowledge with other hairdressers across the globe. Instrumental in opening the original New York academy 12 years ago, Thomas is now Creative and Educational Director of the new flagship academy in Soho New York. With his an innate ability to recognize trends, forecast future looks and inspire hairdressers Thomas plays a key role in the development of growing team members, helping them rise to their fullest potential.
Adriana Papaleo
Academy Educator

As the newest member of the Education Team, Adriana Papaleo is ecstatic to be a part of the TIGI® SOHO Academy, a place she has always considered home and credits for her technical growth. Adriana has had the pleasure of working with Nick Irwin, Thomas Osborn and Heath Grout, and is constantly inspired by their skill and dedication as well as that of the entire TIGI® team. Adriana has also participated backstage in numerous New York Fashion Week shows for TIGI®. She draws on inspiration from her colleagues, along with urban subculture, music and travel. Her passion and drive are heartening, and she feels it is an immense pleasure to have the opportunity to share this through educating with the New York TIGI® team.
Christopher Catanese
Academy Educator & Make-up Artist

Cutting and styling specialist Christopher Catanese, is based at the TIGI Academy NYC. Since joining the Team 7 years ago he has excelled creatively and professionally to become a strong member of the NYC team His variable role includes working on weekly cutting seminars, NYC fashion week, and working as model coordinator. Priding himself on his desire to be constantly growing as an artist Christopher’s mantra is to; ‘challenge myself daily, never allowing there to be a moment where I sit within my comfort zone.’
Mitchel Wilson
Creative Director

Originally joining the TIGI education team 13 years ago in his native Los Angeles, Mitchel Wilson has educated, demonstrated and participated in collections for TIGI globally. He also works with Nick Irwin on Fashion Week as a member of the esteemed TIGI Creative Session Team. Mitchel became a Hairdresser through his love and passion for music culture and fashion. He recently held the position of Creative Director of Australia and New Zealand, and now brings passion for education as Creative Director to the TIGI Learning Lab in Dallas.
Robert Banyaga
Learning Lab Technical Director

Robert Banyaga’s career with TIGI spans over 15 years. Originally from Long Beach, California. He is inspired by every aspect of haircolouring/technical education, fashion, music and art. As a TIGI Talent Colour Educator he has conducted numerous TIGI Academy Courses, In-Salon Educational Programs and Hairshows World-Wide. As the Technical Director for the TIGI Haircare Learning Lab outside of Dallas,TX he is instrumental in supporting educational programs for TIGI Educators, TIGI Direct Sales Specialists and Salon Stylists.
