ANTHONY MASCOLO
TIGI International Creative Director

Anthony Mascolo is like the Ferrari he drives: fast moving, extremely creative, innovative, cutting-edge and passionate. Definitely one of the icons of modern hairdressing, Anthony moves seamlessly from creating commercial and wearable haircuts, to designing outrageous avant-garde styles, to conceptualising films, shows and imagery. He works from the heart, often dismissing rules along the way, in order to create something totally unique. His creativity and passion are exciting.

His Team are constantly ‘fired up’ to accelerate their own new ideas constantly working together on new collections and teaching programmes. It is not unusual to find members of the Team hanging out with Anthony until the early hours, discussing their thoughts, researching pictures or looking at the work they have created.

Anthony’s base is Bed Head Studio in Battersea, South London. From the original small office and studio, Anthony has taken over additional space, adding a larger photographic studio, additional offices, a video editing suite and even a gym. The Team has expanded greatly over the 5 years since Bed Head Studio was ‘born’. Most work is managed in-house using the expertise of team members and covering everything from photography and retouching, to model castings and bookings, graphic design, location management, PR and marketing and of course essentially makeup and hair.

Nearby is the TIGI Creative Academy, where the TIGI Creative Team are based and from where they run all levels of courses. It is very much Anthony’s philosophy to share information and the Academy Creative Cutting course is regularly updated to include the very latest ideas from the Team.

Anthony’s wife Pat Mascolo works beside him in everything that he does, creating the makeup images for his photographic collections, brainstorming and offering advice and working with him on new concepts and ideas. This means that their work is always 24-7. The couple have worked together for 30 years and undoubtedly Pat’s constant support has allowed Anthony to develop his work with total creative freedom. Home life and work life are one and their 3 children are used to the world of TIGI infiltrating into their lives. Often their youngest son and daughter Alex and Josh can be found doing their homework on the meeting table or using their mother’s computer, whilst eldest daughter, Georgina, an art student, regularly shoots her own photography in the studio.

A few minutes in Anthony’s company and you are totally inspired and motivated to push your own boundaries and it’s easy to see that he is a very rare ‘creative genius’.
